However, if the wrinkles have already set in as static wrinkles, the treatment can still be highly effective in relaxing the muscle and softening the appearance of the lines. Over time and with repeated treatments, significant reduction can be achieved. TREATMENT + recoveryAppointment duration is 30 minutes, with the actual treatment time lasting approximately 5 minutes with very minimal downtime. Results vary, most patients observe a return of full muscle movement between 3-6 months.

As with any medical treatment, there are potential side effects and risks to consider. Mild bruising, headaches, and cold-like symptoms are common after the treatment. In some cases, slight asymmetry may occur, especially if there was some asymmetry present before the treatment. However, this is usually easily corrected during your follow-up appointment.
We take great care in administering Crows Feet Wrinkle-Relaxing Injections, and it is considered a low-risk area for complications. However, some individuals might initially feel like they can't smile fully due to the relaxation of the muscles around the eyes that are involved in smiling. This effect typically subsides after a few weeks, and the smile returns to normal. Additionally, some patients may notice a slight increase in cheek prominence due to restricted muscle activity around the eyes. This, too, is a temporary effect and resolves on its own.

Most patients do not find muscle relaxing injections painful, but some mild discomfort is to be expected. Dr Oonagh often likens the sensation to get your eyebrows threaded.

Wrinkle relaxing injections are not permanent, and both their effects and any side effects will wear off over time. It is normal to begin experiencing some movement in the treated area around 8 weeks after the injections. This is not an indication that the treatment has worn off prematurely; it is simply a natural return to muscle activity.
